Whiskey Over Ice Autumn Update |
Yeehah, Cowboys and Cowgirls and welcome to the inaugural Whiskey Over Ice (WOI) Newsletter! Brought to you not by telegram but by the wonders of Social Media channels. Where have all the Stagecoaches gone? (No bus reference intended).
There may no longer be any Stagecoaches, but there are certainly bandits in them thar’ hills!
An Autumnal chill now braces the plains of West Sussex as we reflect on a successful Summer Festival and gig season.
Numerically and size-wise the Madehurst Big Night Out remains the "stand out" for 2024 which saw the return of WOI to the magnificent Madehurst stage for the second year.
WOI delivered a set more cracking than a Rawhide whip, with a continuous set of favourites including Chris Stapleton, Kezia Gill, The Shires, Lady A, Beth Hart and with a sprinkling of Dolly to finish to get the feet tapping and the hips wiggling. If you are not familiar with these artists we highly recommend you look them up on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music. Smooth Country Radio on DAB is a good shout too.
WOI suitably warmed up the crowd of literally thousands for the headline acts of Fleetwood Bac and The RPJ (Rick Parfitt Junior) Band, the latter being absolute party carnage – well recommended!
August saw the band make its debut at the sizeable and popular Ashington Festival. The band laid down some Country Rock vibes late afternoon in the desert (well, Recreation Ground) heat, underlining the laid-back and friendly atmosphere.
A particular surprise came at the Country Festival at the Old House Inn & Restaurant, Copthorne. This event was spectacularly themed with Bucking Broncos, games, moonshine, outdoor bar and haybales.
Everyone not only got into the Western spirit, but country fans, young and slightly older, were very knowledgeable of modern Country Rock and sang along enthusiastically. The band were barely visible beyond a sea of check shirts, Cowboy/girl hats, boots and raised glasses.
WOI continued to tread the floorboards of many West Sussex Saloon establishments including our friendly, near-regular haunts, The Rising Sun, Nutbourne and Bax Castle, Horsham.
Future gig listings can be found on the WOI website: whiskeyovericeofficial.com/calendar There’s quite a bit going on so we are likely to be coming to a Saloon near you soon!
We would like to strongly bring to your attention a charity event the band is organising at Dial Post Village Hall on Sunday, 17th November.
The event will raise funds for a charity close to the band’s heart, Leukaemia Care.
Doors open at 3pm, a Support band at 4.30 pm, Whiskey Over Ice on stage at 6pm, with a break, finishing at 8.15pm or thereabouts.
There's free parking at the Village Hall. Food and a bar will also be available (details to follow).
So, for less than a Fistful of Dollars (£9), you will not only be Country Rocked off your feet, you will be contributing to a very worthy cause.
Just visit whiskeyovericeofficial.com homepage, scroll down one turn of a Smith & Wesson barrel and you’ll see details on how to book.
Your support for this event and all that we do is greatly appreciated.
